The necessity to plan and incentivize flexibility in high intermittent Renewable Energy Systems

The accellerated build out of intermittent renewables and electrification of Western societies is the result of a strong regulatory push and subsidy schemes

  • iRES  and Flex represent two sides of the same coin: One cannot go without the other  and Flex represent two sides of the same coin: One cannot go without the other
  • We have witnessed too little regulatory support and stimulation of flexibility. Systems with high iRES and electrification are suffering
  • The planning of flexible capacity needs to become an integral part of energy policy. The only way to get to a clean and reliable energy system in an affordable way
  • Besides a set of recommendations , Energy Pool will share perspectives what types of flexibility must be planned for and how we ourselves are contributing to this
