Nicolas Quintin

Co-Founder & Head of EMS

Nicolas holds an MSc in Energy Engineering and has worked for major European utilities such as TotalEnergies and ENGIE as a power trader and quantitative analyst. He also worked as a Battery Data Engineer at Gogoro in Taiwan, a global leader in battery-swapping technology for light electric vehicles.
At Octave, Nicolas leads the development of the company’s EMS platform, combining energy market expertise with a strong technical foundation in battery systems and control. His work focuses on enabling site-level flexibility through real-time asset control — to support the grid, reduce costs and create new revenue streams.

Octave is a Belgian cleantech company that develops energy management systems (EMS) and behind-the-meter battery energy storage systems (BESS) for commercial and industrial clients. We help companies use energy more efficiently by maximizing the potential of their flexible assets: reducing costs, creating revenue and contributing to grid stability.
Our EMS enables real-time monitoring and control of energy assets such as solar PV, EV chargers and battery systems, while taking into account each site’s characteristics. It identifies market opportunities, optimises solar self-consumption, manages battery dispatch and improves grid interaction.
Octave also designs scalable battery systems that combine reliability and performance. Our portfolio includes a range of technologies — from air- and liquid-cooled systems to other configurations — tailored to each site’s needs.
Today, Octave controls over 55 MW of flexible assets via its EMS. In parallel, our installed battery storage fleet exceeds 90 MWh, supporting a wide variety of industrial customers.
At FLEXCON, we look forward to exchanging ideas on technology, policy and energy markets — and exploring how integrated EMS and BESS can support smarter energy use and greater flexibility on the grid.
