Marc Vergroesen

Managing Director – The Netherlands

Marc Vergroesen is Managing Director of the Dutch branch of Energy Pool. After 10 years with Ørsted – market leader in offshore wind development –  he made the switch to the French flexibility and demand response pioneer in 2022.  His career change was powered by the observation that the accelerated build-out of renewables and electrification of society cannot function without flex and storage. In his view, flexibility is the key to transition to a clean, reliable and affordable energy system.

He started in the middle of the energy crisis resulting in its biggest client (ALDEL) to file for bankruptcy. A revisit of the strategy was required. Through differentiation, innovation and partnerships Energy Pool has managed a comeback and re-establish itself in the crowded Dutch ecosystem.

Marc is leading an ambitious strategy to become one of the leading players in managing and optimizing complex energy systems in The Netherlands by 2030. With the Netherlands facing many energy transition challenges first, the Dutch offering will be important for Energy Pool’s global expansion.
