Ina Schjelderup

Head of Public & Regulatory Affairs for Nordics and Benelux

EPEX SPOT

After 12 years in the energy sector, Ina has gained insights from many angles. She is particularly passionate about market design and regulation as ‘one little detail’ can have a large impact in practice. As Head of Public & Regulatory Affairs for Nordics and Benelux at EPEX SPOT, she represents the regulatory interest of the market in general and enjoys working with the many and diverse stakeholders to achieve win-win solutions. Her previous experience includes RWE, Engie, Tesla Motors and Eneco, mainly covering areas within the energy only market, capacity market and security of supply. The flexibility market is rising in both importance and urgency, which makes it particularly interesting.

To foster the integration of renewable energy sources and to enhance the engagement of consumers and producers in the power market, EPEX SPOT develops local flexibility markets. A neutral and transparent market platform pools local flexibility offers. Market participants gain new opportunities to value their flexible assets, system operators obtain new tools to manage congestions and to optimize grid planning.

The European Power Exchange EPEX SPOT SE and its affiliates operate physical short-term electricity markets in 13 countries: in Central Western Europe, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Nordics and in Poland. Furthermore, EPEX SPOT newly developed local flexibility markets and Guarantees of Origin auctions, to foster the integration of renewable energy sources and to enhance the engagement of consumers and producers in the power market.

As part of EEX Group, a group of companies serving international commodity markets, EPEX SPOT is committed to the creation of a pan-European power market. Over 300 members trade electricity on EPEX SPOT. 49% of its equity is held by HGRT, a holding of transmission system operators.
